I had a impaired driver pull out in front of me about two weeks ago. The person was arrested. This is my first accident and I had to be transported to the hospital. I ended up with just chipped bone in foot and sprained ankle. I also got some bruises and road rash.
My question is will the insurance fix my bike back to exactly back the way it was? They made me take it to Harley dealership for repairs instead of letting me do it and they the Harley tech there said they would but cant the insurance refuse to pay for some of the extra accessories like leather saddlebag covers, highway pegs, aftermarket engine guard etc??? I feel like it should all be replaced back to how it was especially since it wasnt my fault. Has anyone else had experience with this kind of thing? They were suppose to do a estimate earlier this week but i never heard back from them yet.
It scraped the whole right side of my bike up from front fender, fairing, cobra aftermarket exhaust, side cover, saddlebags, engine guard, highway pegs and i think i had some damage on the other side as well.

Is this your insurance company or the other driver's insurance company?
My insurance company is going to pay to get my biked fixed and then make the other drivers insurance pay them back. I spoke to the other drivers insurance and they told me it would be quicker that way because they are not a local company and if I waited on them it would take a long time to get my bike repaired. They are handling medical bills and everything themselves though. I have Erie.
Sounds like bs, the other insurance should have to pay, stock or not. Might want contact a lawyer as you may be entitled to more than just bills. A little monetary punishment would seem to be appropriate here.
Absolutely his only option. The insurance co. is take it or leave it?
Im still dealing with them. Hopefully I can get things worked out. I just bought the exhaust, and engine guard. I literally only had maybe 300 miles on them when this happened
I did speak to a Attorney but some people I know including my agent said it might not be a good idea to go that route yet until I figure out what the other insurance companys final settlement will be. I guess if I dont like what they offer, I dont have to agree to it??
I mainly just want my bike fixed, medical bills paid, gear replaced that was cut off including new helmet and maybe compensate the loss of value on my bike due to the wreak even though it was repaired. I just bought the bike back in July an it was in near perfect condition and I still owe a decent amount on it.
YOU NEED to sue the hell out of him!
Why?
To get the insurance companies on board and NOT to license IDIOTS .
ANY trip to the hosp at the other guys fault is worth at least 50K nowadays.
I have exp.
I was run over , by an idiot.
DONT let this go past as if you want to be a good guy, as you will be doing the rest of us a disfavor.
