Come on y’all, let’s act like we’re somewhat adults... it’s just freaking shocks we’re talking about. We know who doesn’t like who and who likes who....
I recently installed the Ohlins Blackline 772s. They are really great shocks that provide a very comfortable ride.
While I have not had them long enough to provide an extensive report on their performance, my butt and back swear by them today.
I have also heard from people that bought the cheapest Ohlins they could get and how after they have ridden with them for awhile, wish they had spent a little more money on their purchase.
I really liked the Harley air shocks, but was disappointed by the lack of road feel in the suspension. I would, however, prefer them to the shocks that Harley is currently installing on new bikes.
It's your butt and ride so customize it to your liking.

Sorry! you are right, they are just shocks. And you are also right I don't like them or the man I bought them from! So when a thread comes up about suspension and those shocks and that company that I bought them from come up I am going to put my 2cents worth in as I am a former user of that product and that vender. If grbrown wants to come on here and tell everyone how great these are and so on I will tell my opinion of them.

That pretty much sums it up. Go for the seperated shock if youre going with Ohlins, otherwise go for Pro Actions. For those that are interested in the seperated Ohlin 772s, but want to avoid the drama, look up Suspended by Smarty, or call Ohlins and theyll direct you to him (Carol in Texas).
Does anyone have an opinion on going with the 14" shocks and 1" lowering blocks? I'm a little leery of lowering blocks, but if others have had good results my mind could be changed.

If youre talking about the DK Customs set up it am sure Kevin has done his homework to a point that its safe and works, all hes doing is giving you a shock that has more travel for heavier combinations of riders from what I can get from it.
+1 on Ohlin's rear suspension. I'd have to say, fully loaded, 2-up, tour-pak and luggage, we are at or just over 500lbs of weight total. The Ohlin's are completely smooth and we never bottom out. I'm in south Louisiana and everyone knows the stereotype about the roads here.
The Ohlin's on the rear have really shown how bad the front suspension is in comparison as well. While I feel almost every bump through the handlebars, the rear is completely smooth and planted. We are VERY happy with the Ohlin's.
Stock suspension was never designed for that kind of a load. You severely overload the bike and then blame Harley for it. Bike is rated for 450 pounds......stop blaming Harley.

So youre saying a touring bike, designed to haul two bodies and their odds/ends isnt designed to haul that much weight? What do they do, use midgets during their testing? A 250 pound man and 150 pound woman is 400 pounds without gear. Add another 100 pounds and youre at a normal 2-up situation. If the suspension cant handle that, it sucks.
