Default 2016 Ultra Limited Will Not Start - Please Help!

Sorry if this has already been posted and resolved, but I'm getting a little frustrated at this point. I've been having a tough time getting my 2016 Ultra Limited to start. I've made sure the run button has been pushed. I constantly keep a battery tender on it, and I am getting the radio, so I know there is at least some power. When I push the start button I get nothing, not even a click. I've tried pulling in the clutch, pulling in the brake, making sure it was in neutral, put up the kickstand...still I get nothing. Both key fobs would still lock and unlock the bike, but I changed out the battery in both...no change. I'm not getting any messages up on the screen for a PIN number...it's just the radio. The one thing that is a bit odd to me, the ignition switch does not control the the power to the bike. I have to push the run button to get any sound out of the radio. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, it's just a little different than what I'm used to on my 2000 Ultra Classic.

I have had this happen a couple of times. Shut everything off, take the fobs about 20 feet away, then wait about 10 seconds and walk back to the bike. Start as normal.

That's not the way it's supposed to work....

The main ignition switch goes from left to right: lock, off, start, acc.... In both the start & acc positions, the power (radio) should come on regardless of whether the run/stop switch on the grips is in either position.... When the ignition switch is in the start position, if you turn the run/stop switch to run, you should hear the fuel pump pressurize.... in the other positions, the run/stop switch will do nothing

Have you had your ignition switch out recently? If so maybe the switch tumblers need to be aligned. Still, even if the ignition switch is misaligned, the run/stop button on the handlebars should only turn the fuel pump on/off, not all the rest of the power....

Have you done any recent work involving any wiring....???

Check your battery terminals, make sure there tight. Mine came loose one time and I had the same issue. Radio would work but the bike wouldn't start. Good luck.

Yeah, I thought that was very strange. I'll have to play with it a bit when I get home tonight...I think there are only 3 positions on my ignition switch...

I haven't done anything with this bike as far as the ignition switch or any other wiring goes.

Do you have a 2016 CVO FLHTK? Here's a link for the owners manual

First thing I would do is load test that battery. Then go form there; Are you the original owner? If not are there aftermarket bars? Check fuses? Did you perform any other work to the bike? If so, return back to normal? Also what Attitude said!!

Ride safe!

I would put my money on the FOB being the problem. I had a 16 that I had to smack the FOB on my leg a few times once in a while.

Thanks for sending the link over GuineaPig. It is the CVO FLHTK. It does say in there that the OFF/RUN switch needs to be switched to RUN to get lights and instruments. And it's not even really an ignition switch it's a fork lock only apparently. There are only two positions for it to move.

With the key fob present and the fork lock rotated fully to the unlocked position, set the OFF/RUN switch to RUN. The lights and instruments become operational and the motor can be started.
