Default Master cylinder leaking from switch housing

Ok guys, I have a leak on the front brake master cylinder on my 2013 Ultra that appears to be leaking out of the small holes on the bottom of the switch housing. It’s a very small leak and I have not had time to tear into it but I think I have a diagnosis but I wanted to get some input from y’all.

My plan is to remove the MC from the bike, clean it and rebuild the pushrod mechanism with new components. While I’m in there I’m gonna flush out the system with new fluid (I have speed bleeders so that’s easy). Then clean any mess in the switch housing before final assembly.

Anyone have any info that they can share about a situation like this, or thoughts on why my plan is a fail before I tear into my mistress?

Thanks people!

Are you referring to the lid/gasket that is leaking? If so, you don’t necessarily need to rebuild the mechanism unless you have some other issue with brakes. Address it soon as the fluid will eat the paint/powdercoat on the switch housing.

These holes?

Replace lid and gasket and don’t overtighten screws or they’ll crush down and cause leaking. It takes very little to tighten them down enough. Did someone open yours previously for service?

Thanks for the input Dawg.
No, it’s not the lid, it’s the holes on the bottom of the switch housing. It’s like it’s leaking from the lever pin that presses the plunger in the cylinder to pressurize the fluid. Not leaking on top.
I'm the only person that wrenches on my stuff, but no I haven’t opened lately.

Ahh, then yes you’re on the right track. Perhaps a particle got into the plunger assembly and is causing the leak.

Yeah, I can make it a 3 beer job if I take my time.
Any excuse to hang out in the garage works fer me.
No paint issues luckily, but it did mess up one of my lower speaker pods a bit. Guess I gotta get new ones. Hehe
