Default 2016 Ultra Limited Questions

Members:

I am in the process of purchasing 2016 Limited with just under 1000 miles. What do I need to do to make sure it will enjoy a long and safe life? Will I need to change all of its fluids-brake, coolant, engine and tranny fluids? Any other maintenance that I should do?

I've never owned a garage queen prior to this one and am a bit concerned that it has been sitting essentially idle for so long. It runs fine and handles properly, tires are original, but look good. Its appearance is as new, but it has been sitting.

The bike is bone stock, if that matters, with the exception of some lighting. It has turn signals between the bags and fenders, bullet front turn signals, and additional lighting, or so it seems, on the tour pack. All else is stock.

Thank you.

I'd probably just do the fluids and ride it. That's not too old for tires, they're fine.

Nice find. I wouldn't be too worried about it sitting a year.

First service may have been done already, if not or if you can't verify- Have the oil, filter, primary and transmission oils changed. Look at the coolant level and top up- don't think if it was me I'd replace it.
I just did the coolant on my 2014 last year (30K miles), Tires should be fine.

Get a service manual if you want to do this yourself. Or at least get the maintenance schedule so you know what service is called for when.

Ride and enjoy.

Since there's a good possibility that it HAS NOT had it's first service and, IF you plan on keeping it, I'd strongly suggest you call ANY Harley dealer and give them your full VIN....they should be able to tell you if and when any GD dealer (nationwide) has ever done any service on your cycle. IF there's no record then I would take it to a dealer and spend the money to get it serviced.....after that one you could do later ones if you feel up to it.

Along with the first service, HD recommends flushing the brake and clutch fluids at two years due to possible moisture absorption. I'd have those two systems flushed and fresh fluids added.
