Default Tracking Device against Theft

Is anyone using a GPS Tracking Device on their bikes? Ive got a ton of money invested, insured to the *** but still I really would hate someone to steal my ride. What is available in the way of hidden devices that will ping your phone or even give a gps location of your bike at any given time. I don't know if the new bikes have such options but my 03-RKC is my pride and joy and I would like to install something on it just in case. Im in Canada so we don't have the stores your guys got in the US but im sure im not the first Canuck to wonder about this.

You really want it back after it's been stolen?

LoJack used to be an option, but they stopped supporting motorcycles.

Insure the living daylights out of it, if it is stolen it is going to be totaled by most appraisers anyway

Yes I really would want it back...is that some kind of a dumb trick question? Given I would never get enough from the insurance to replace it YES. Geeze. As long as it wasn't damaged badly yes.

I don't think I'd want to even see it, let alone get it back. I've seen way too many trashed vehicles that were theft recoveries sittting in the County Sheriffs Evidence storage area.

How do you know how the bike was treated while it was gone?

Some idiot puts 87 octane in your air cooled high compression motor, the thing pings like a pinball machine, the pistons and rods are compromised, and 6 months down the road the crank breaks apart and air conditions the lower end.

The Insurance company denies any liability since YOU can not prove it was the result of claim related damage.

Someone beats the living daylights out of it, and the transmission and clutch give you problems 3 months after you get it back.... ooops YOU own it.

To say nothing of the branded title ( recovered theft attached to the title for the life of the bike) that will make a trade in or future resale a real joy.

But hey if you want the bike back, and you take the check from the insurance company that says "full and final payment on claim XYZ", and you assume the risk have at it.

One of the states where I am a licensed Insurance Appraiser, once the vehicle is gone 30 days, it is by law a total loss.

I have done claims where brand new cars were stolen off a dealers lot and recovered after 30 days with minimal damage.

Do you think Honda or the Dealer wanted that car back and have to warranty it for the next 6 years?

Plus disclose it was a recovered theft?

Im in rural Ontario. We have more dogs and cornfields than people. Not to say there hasnt been theft, but in the last 10 years only onebike has been stolen here. Its not like they are everywhere so some donkey running the snot out of a bike would be noticed big time, and don't forget the added benefit of knowing who did it. Im in a small community where a$$clowns who do stuff like that are quietly and rather effectively shown the error of their ways by our Canadian versions of good ole boys.. An old school form of "behavior correction assistance". You know just so the next guy doesn't have to go through it. See up here we have to fight a whole lot harder to get anything remotely close to recovering our investment from insurance companies compared to you guys south . Yes, ideally I would like it back if I were to catch it in time.

I use MOGO on my side car rig. You can track it on your phone too. Bought it from a dealer and it installs very easy.
