I don't recall the brand, but there is an alternative out there, an automatic clutch. Hopefully someone will be along soon with more details.

There are also clubs and websites out there who help disabled riders get going, so there are other solutions available. I hope that one day HDF will have a section dedicated to riders who need a little extra help to ride, or get riding once again. NABD UK is such an organisation here in the UK, who have a wide variety of clever devices available, which may give you some ideas to look into further. There must be similar bodies in the USA?!

I don't know if there are organizations such as that here, but my riding partner is paralyzed from the waist down- no use of his legs. He rides a Tri-Glide converted to entirely hand controls. His specific setup might not work here, as he is able to pull the clutch- shifting is done via push buttons. I'll ask him if there are any organizations he's aware of- or how he originally got connected with the correct equipment to convert his bike.

The Rekluse clutch mentioned earlier might be worth a look

Recluse feature:
Shifting transmission remains unchanged (clutch lever use is recommended for shifting)

I've since read the instructions for the Rekluse, which requires hand operation of the clutch for selecting first gear from neutral, so may not be quite so suitable after all.

I'm sure there must be a veteran's club, at the very least, somewhere in the US. You have a much bigger population than we do, so plenty of scope for such organisations, to keep you chaps mobile!

In talking to my riding buddy, he lost the use of his legs at age 20 in a farming accident- so he spent time in rehab/therapy, and the place where he went for the therapy referred him to companies that did conversions of vehicles.

For the trike, he talked to a fellow rehab patient who's left leg below the knee was amputated, and got the names of a couple companies that sold conversion parts for bikes, etc.......

So in his case not really any kind of formal club or group- no doubt some must exist somewhere, but in his case it was more word of mouth than anything.

I don't know if it would be in your budget but I would be curious if the new hydraulic clutches would be better for you than trying to drastically mod what you have?

I have never ridden one of HD hydraulic clutch bikes but have had several metrics in the past that had them and they are very gentle in comparison to cable clutch.
