Default Heated Handgrips question...

I have a 2010 Ultra Classic. I recently swapped out my stock radio. However now my heated handgrips don't work. There were 2 harnesses that plugged into the back of my stock radio. Did the wiring for the heated handgrips go through one of the harnesses?

Any suggestions?

There are two plugs on the heated grips one goes from the left to the right side the other brings power to the grips. One was probably pulled loose during the radio work. Check both connections and the fuse just in case there was an accidental grounding of the power lead.

It should not have been connected to the radio harness. Go here and see figure 5. It shows where the power connector for the heated handgrips is located under the fairing.

It's not in the radio plug. I'm sure you just knocked something else loose while working on the radio. I did a radio/speaker swap and a few short rides later realized my fuel gauge wasn't dropping. Always showed full even when the idiot warning light came on. After opening the tank and testing the sender to be ok, I found the plug on the back of the gauge in the fairing was a little loose. Works great now. Great for a Harley fuel gauge anyway.

Even though I obviously can't follow my own advice that I give regularly, look for the simple first. Something unplugged, loose or a fuse.

Good luck.

I am going to pull the fairing because I have to move things and reposition the GPS antenna and install a ferrite ring so I will check plug then. My cigarette lighter stopped working also so I am already assuming it is the fuse since they are on the same circuit.

I appreciate everyones knowledge!! I love working with my hands so this is great!

i will let you all know.

I wouldn't use the heated grips and the lighter at the same time.

I think I hit the cigarette lighter when I was installing my new radio. I normally put a USB adapter in it but now with the new radio I won’t need to. New bells whistles.
