So....here’s the thing. Since I bought my SGS back in Oct 2018, I’ve been concerned that it was a bike too big. 5’7” 175. But everyday I ride it, I love it more and more.

Do I pay attention to where I park it and think about maneuverability in all situations.....YES. Am I resigned to the fact that it panic situations this 900 lb bike is going to go where it wants, when it wants? YES

but here’s the deal.....this bike stops faster than any bike I’ve ever owned. The braking system is safer than anything I’ve ever owned. This bike is safe and awesome. Worry less.....enjoy more!!

Like I always say. Can you lift in the air the 500 lbs motorcycles you are use to riding? Do you know of any man that can hold in the air a 900 lbs motorcycles? No I can’t and don’t know any that can either. You are not holding 800-900 lbs in the air you are only keeping it balanced. When I am stopped I only have about 10 lbs of pressure on my left foot keeping it balance. I don’t have hundreds of pounds on my foot trying to keep it up. Once you get riding a big bike you will get use to it.

Very true. Just keep it in mind at a standstill, the bigger bikes get heavy really quick when you lean them. Took me a little getting used to coming off of a heritage classic.
This doesn't really apply once you're moving.

Hey I'm 5'10", 150lbs. I went from using two 500cc bikes, a Honda Rebel and Suzuki GSF to an '07 Road King. Love the RK and wouldn't go back to a lighter bike. You'll find that balance and everything that goes with the joy of riding transfer right over to the larger machine. I think the key for you is as you've been told, be able to flat foot the machine you test drive. Be aware of your surroundings during low speed maneuvers. Also learn the proper way to lift a 700+ lb bike 'casue the odds are you might tip over. Have fun!

Thanks you,

I am 5'8" and I ride a 2015 Ultra limited. its heavy but manageable. A road roadking or even street glide may be lighter. I however LOVE the bags as I tend to overpack.

It's all about being comfortable! You'll learn to handle the bigger bike with time. You can look into a low boy type seat to get you lower to feel more stable
