Two days ago when I was riding and I came to a stop the engine shut off. I attempted to restart it but it didn't click - nothing. Complete silence. After a few minutes I tried again and it fired up as usual. I then parked it at work and a few hours later when leaving work...same thing. Nothing. Not even a sound of it trying to turn over. Then a later try fired her up. As I was driving it jerked a few times as if it was going to shut off and the red engine light came on. It then settled down and I made it home. Any thoughts on what my trouble might be?
check and make sure you got the download and new relay for the 03. You can do so by having your hd guy do an swr inquiry on your vin number. start there before you spend a lot of dough because those are free.
Check your battery connections also check the connections at the starter. Pull the wire off at the starter with the pig tail and make sure there is no corrodions on the end of the wire or the pig tail is loose itself.
I had a very similar thing happen with mine. It turned out to be the ignition switch. I got a new one, after I broke the old one putting it back together after cleaning it, cost a HD but the problem went away after that.

That would be my guess also,or the run/kill switch.
When it does the no start thing do you get lights, gauges???
A loose battery connection would mean nothing comes on, but a bad connector in ignition switch or run/kill would let the lights work, and not the starter or ECM.
When attempting to restart you are cyling the igniton swith and the run/kill switch. Could be one of those two.
