Im needing some help guys, im at the end up my rope with this friggen bike. Ive done checked it from front to rear and still cant figure out why my bike starts to wobble at about 70 to 75 and as i make slight curbs. I never did that before until i removed the back tire and rim and put a new white all tire on the stock rim. Then the problems started. Ive since then had took the stock rim off and put a new spoke rear rim and tbe problem still is there. I have air ride and ive changed the shocks and put the stock shocks on and its still doing it.both wheels have been balance correctly but it still does it. All the problems started after i messed with the rear end. Never did it before. Everything has been checked over and there seems to be nothing wrong on the bike but i can not for the life of me figure out why its wobbling now at speeds of 70 to 80, its not a bad wobble but it is wobbling and didnt do it before
If you're sure your tires are balanced correctly, and you've ruled out any bearing issues or damage that may have happened on removal and install, then it sounds like the tire may be the culprit...could have just gotten a lemon...also is the new tire an exact match as far as dimensions? Is it perhaps a bit taller or wider a smidge?? something that could throw the geometry off??
Also there have been a few wobble threads popping up latley and ive mentioned it on each so i guess ill add it here too since its something iv'e learned recently...if you have the back of the bike loaded up it could also contribute to a wobble.....loaded saddlebags, tour pack on and loaded...big rider leaning back in the saddle or all of the above with a passenger as well.....again worth mentioning
this could be a hint.... it is not unheard of to get a brand new tire that is defective.
What I was thinking too. I had a bad tire on my car once. Faster you went, the worse the wobble happened. Turned out it had a broken belt in the tire.
I would take the tire / rims to a shop and see if they are balanced. Check also the bearings. I don't think they went bad "all of a sudden" but hell, might as well check while its off the bike.
My little Dyna had a wobble from day one and the dealership wound up letting some air out of the front tire and it was better but not fixed. As was said before, it started with the new rear tire, so that's where I would start looking. I would go back to a stock or similar tire. If that didn't fix it, I would start checking the fall away on the front end. It took new neck bearings to fix mine. I bought the bike brand new so it came with bad neck bearings.
