So I went to the Harley dealership today with the intent on buying some chiseled chrome handlebars for my 18 Road Glide Ultra to replace the vanilla stock ones. Somewhat of a fiasco as the folks in "parts" didn't seem to know much of anything (a whole different thread and story).
The goal here is for the new bars to sit about an inch or two more forward than the stock, and an inch or two higher. Wanted chiseled looked as well (i.e., not curved near the grips and housings straight edge). The HD ones are way too high, as I don't want to go full on ape style. Just something a tad more stylish, but preserving the functionality. Another requirement - needs to support my Defiance heated grips (i.e., 1 1/4 tube). I'll obviously have to replace the brake line cord and such.
So would love to see some pictures and suggested brands.
I don't have any recommendations on the bars. There are a ton of them out there. Couple things to help eliminate any future confusion:
The Defiance grips are 1 inch inside. Most 1.25 inch bars drop down to 1 inch at the grips - likely all of them do.
Be careful to get bars that are 1.25 inch at the mount. If you find a set of bars you like that are the standard 1 inch at the mount you can change out your mount. I found a used one online for 25 bucks.
You can go as high as 14" apes with the stock cables. So considering the bars you're looking are shorter, you probably don't need cables.
Do get the can bus wire extensions though. 8 inch is usually enough.

Thanks for the helpful and great feedback. Actually have Kahuna grips (brain fart on my part) but everything you said makes sense.
I recently had a custom set of bars made from FMB Choppers to fit the measurements that I wanted. I just messaged Dave at FMB prior, placed my order and emailed him the specs. He seemed to answer his emails all hours of the night - and immediately. I also do mot like the 'unicorn horn' look and went with their Phatty Blazed 16" bars but modified to my pullback and width; they make their bars from 12" and up. Have a look: https://www.fmbchopperparts.com/cate...lide-apes.html
Are those the Harley ones, i.e., these: https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...09-55800569--1 ? The fitment page shows that it fits standard road glide and road glide special. Any issues or special considerations to fit on your FLTRU ultra?. We have the exact same bike it appears (even same color).
