Default 09' CVO Road Glide riser question

I gave a buddy the old (not stock) handle bars that were on my 16' Road Glide when I purchased it. The bars are 1.25" at the center. We need to know if the stock riser on his 09' will except the 1.25" diameter bars? If not, will there be any issues using the stock risers that also were removed from my bike on his bike to allow the use of the bars?

So I went to Ronnie's Part finder and looked at the risers and the trees. Looks like the risers are 1". So now I just need to know if the risers off my 16' will fit the 09'. If so, a follow up question is this, can we swap the risers without pulling the trees apart? I see the trees are much different on the Rushmore then they are on the pre-Rushmore, wondering if there is access to the riser bolts while the trees are still mounted to the frame.

I am guessing that no one on here with a pre-Rushmore touring bike has changed their risers before, doesn't seem possible with all the knowledge on this forum.

I changed my stock 09' Bars and swapped them for 2013 CVO Road Glide bars which are 1 1/2". And then color matched them. I had to also use the handlebar clamp from the 2013 model year.

Not sure if this helps you out.

YB when you did the swap were you able to swap the risers without removing the top tree? If you had to remove the top tree, did you have to reestablish the fall-away? Was there anything else involved? My buddy has ordered a the maintenance manual for his bike, so we will have it on hand when we do the swap, I am just trying to see how much is involved in swapping out the risers and what is the most efficient approach to doing it.

you dont need to remove the tree to replace risers. i replaced my riser with a much taller one. its a pain to get to, but the bolts are under the tree and reachable.

Yep, no messy with the riser.

Just the handlebar clamp, (for my set up) it was plug & play.
