I've lowered 2 windshields by drilling new mounting holes and sliding it down. There was no need to trim the bottom.

In the early 2000's the Ultra windshield was very high. On the sides it was fairly parallel for a few inches. That is why I got away with cutting 3 or 4 inches off the bottom. It still exits the fairing at full width.

To the guys saying "Let a pro do it". Well, some of us can work on our own stuff and some can't.

I’ve cut windscreens before. Lots of masking tape, a sharpie line to follow. I prefer using an electric jig saw, because I’ll keep the line smoother.

Belt sander for smoothing and shaping, then a hand sanding block. Looks very oem if you take a little time.

Still can have a bit of delamination at an edge sometimes.

I guess I didn't really explain it earlier but I have trimmed many windshields successfully but all where done on the top edge. This would be the first time trimming a windshield on a fairing bike and thought the bottom edge would be easier. I am just trying to find from others previous experience if there is any issue with the taper of the windshield or the recurve on a windshield if you trim from the bottom.

From what you've told us, plus the replies above, you'll be fine whatever you decide to trim!

I trimmed my klock werks shield, it was easy, covered the bottom in masking tape, made a pattern, moved the pattern up an inch, cut off the excess with a jigsaw, using a scroll bit, removed the tap cleaned it up.good to go.

Some good tips here. I am tempted to do my windshield. When I bought the bike 2nd hand the previous owner had over-tightened the screws that hold it and caused some cracking. I stop drilled the cracks but if I took off some of the bottom edge it would remove the cracked portions.

I will have to do some measuring to see if this will work for me.

If I screw it up no big loss as the windshield is old and nearly do for replacement regardless.

If it was a new shield I would be tackling it from the top as redoing the mounting slots may try my patience.
