I have all the heated gear and use it a lot during the winter but, I had heated grips installed a week or so ago on my 19 SGS when I had the handle bars changed. My daily ride to work is only 20 miles. I didn't like having to "wire up" to use the heated gloves. On longer trips, I would use the gloves but, on shorter runs, I think the heated grips with light weight gloves will be the ticket. I'll know for sure this winter.
Oh yea, I got the Harley Kahuna heated grips. Look great.
I'm in the same boat with a 15 mile ride to work so heated gloves would be a hassle. The stock grips have plenty of heat but they are in pretty rough shape at this point
Ran these for 6 years on my '07 w/o a single issue.
These appear to be the stock heated grips from the 2013 and back CVO, I had these on my 13 and loved them. They look nice and perform well. Same comment for my current factory heated grips which are chrome and rubber.
OP, I can't help you with aftermarket option but can I ask why you would go aftermarket since you already have factory?

The grips themselves are getting pretty worn out. The heat still works great but the rubber seems to be breaking down almost
It's probably too late for your grips but hit them with sand paper. Like 300 grit. Takes just a few minutes. Removes all the grime and shiny worn rubber off leaving it new looking.
