Did you/are you going to show LRS the photo so they can elongate the center hole on the new one? Was there any way you could have pushed the center of the shield up a little if you had known the issue?
After removing the fairing, I realized why the windshield cracked. It's not a proper fit. In order to get the windshield seated properly, you have to put a lot of force at the center.
When the two outer crews are lined up, the center hole is 3/4 to an inch off of the center hole. No matter how tight or loose the center screw is, it's gonna crack.
Look at the curve comparison between the stock shield and the Mega Curve.
This is how it sits in the center with the edges sitting properly on the outside mounting holes.
Looks like they've got some quality control issues. I think I'll go in another direction the next time I need a shield.

Did push it up. Thats not the problem. The center hole will line up, it's just too far off the inner fairing. The inch I need to push it to the inner fairing (there's too much of a curve in the shield) causes it to flex inward and puts stress on the area of the center slot.
Sent LRS the pics. They said that they use the same basic specs for all 14-19 shields, yet my Flat Top isn't as curved as the Mega. Hopefully it's a one off bad shield.
They're sending me a new one so we'll see.
Looks like if you seated the center bolt first the outer posts would get more centered when the shield flexed.
But I'm not there.
Point is, I have to push the center of the windshield in about an inch before it will even make contact with the inner fairing bolt hole. This force is what's causing it to crack.
Center bolt first is how I seat my windshields, It's also the way LRS recommends.

Just asked, relax, no insult intended.
Personally I feel their quality has gone down hill since the sale.
