Lots of people change the exhaust on a brand new bike with 0 miles. You will be fine.

Mine had no miles at all when they changed the entire exhaust, including the headers, the camshaft, lifters, pushrods, air cleaner, and tune file.

This has been done on 5 of my bikes without issue.

It’s my first brand new bike. I have always bought used so I just did as I was told. It didn’t hurt too bad and thankfully it’s over now.

I understand.

My 2015 was taken from the dealer and warmed it for 2 minutes idling and then I ran it WOT to 2500 RPM back to 2000 RPM, then 3000 RPM down to 2500 RPM, etc until 5000 RPM. Broke it in 3 minutes. Now 4 years later with 31K it has never used a drop of oil. I've done similar break ins with every new vehicle I've bought and I've never had oil users. Just an alternative (more effective IMO) and food for thought. The other way is just ride it like the manual says for about 50 miles, then ride it like you normally would. Engines do not take 500 miles to break in. Good heat cycling and managed WOT is ideal.

For the first 50 miles that's what I did. It also happened to be almost exactly the distance between the dealership and my house. I ran it up to 3k, down to 2k, up to 2500, down to 1800, etc, without maintaining a constant RPM for more than a few minutes. I just heard to "go easy" on it for the first 500.
