I'm traveling.. when I pull out under heavy load, I get a slip and metal grinding, it appears to come from the clutch/trans area. It's fine if I gently pull out, or when it's fully engaged going down the road.. the sound is awful.
2015 Limited Stage 4 w AIM clutch thingy..
If you could advise me on where and what and what danger?? I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks Tim
Did you have any clutch work recently done on the bike, or compensator? Mine made a grinding type sound when under load at take off, skeery sound to say the least, Mine was the compensator, and the throw out bearing on the clutch push rod.
Probably in your clutch basket, probably going to get worse. On the good side, you can get to it all via the primary cover, and may be able to see it well enough via the derby cover. Nothing will change by looking.
can probably be fixed on the side of the road or in a hotel parking lot, with the right tools and parts. A shop that will let you work out back would be even nicer.
There are relatively few things that can slip and grind under heavy load and seem to hold under light load. With stage 4, if you have been "enjoying" the power frequently, anything splined may be in the process of completely stripping. This would include the driven side of the compensator, the clutch hub, and the transmission output (forward drive belt )pulley. Don't know how far from home you are, but if anything more than just a few miles, my guess is that you won't make home without the problem being found and fixed. Damaging the splines on the engine crank shaft would be very expensive, probably a new crank shaft, same for damaging the splines on either the transmission input and output shafts. If those splines "survive, replacing the parts that onto them would be less expensive. Good luck.

I did not have work done recently .. almost sounds like a floor board scrapping, even tho I'm no where close to that on a pull out.
