Yesterday I met up with some friends I met in HDFORUMS to ride up to the BRP for a Sunday ride. Being the rain magnet I am the sky opened up and we got wet. We cut the ride short as there was no relief in sight for the liquid sunshine. I made it all the way home with out any problems. I parked my bike on the concrete to opened the garage door, pulled one of the cars out and got back on the bike to turn it around to put in the garage. That was my mistake. I circled the yard to get a go at the garage and the front wheel hit some mud as I was turning and the front wheel just slid out from under me. Was only going 2 mph and the bike was on the ground before I knew what happened. I got the bike picked back up and in the garage. Luckily there was no damage except where my new frog toggs burned to the exhaust. I washed off the mud and checked the bike over and after first inspection the only thing that was hurt was my pride. I have been riding many years but this is the first time on a bike this size. I have only had the bike for about 4 weeks and am still learning it. I did learn a valuable lesson. Keep this bike off of less than solid ground.
That stinks. I've found with my new RG that I need to be very carefull of where I park this thing. It is the heaviest bike I've ever had also. I almost got in a jam when I parked head in on a spot that was downhill. I've parked in this spot for years with my old RKC. It was never a problem as that bike was much lower and I had better leverage that with the RG. It took some effort but I got it backed up the hill and out of the spot. Next time I will back in to that spot.
glad only the pride was a little damaged. ... once these bests decide to lay down and rest.... only a split second and they are snoozin on the ground. and you first say... WTF just happened... then you look all around your neighborhood to ensure nobody saw you...
Dropped my EG Saturday. I know how you feel. For me I was just turning to the right sharply (doing 1 to 2 MPH) but the asphault wasn't level. When I put my right leg down, the bike leaned just a bit more than I could handle. For me,I have just a bit of scratches on the right mirror and the lower saddlebag guard.
