gear cams vs silent chain question

True Smitty901. My chain tensioner was almost done, so I went gear drive. I told my indy only if gear drive would work. I went with the 509's because they're more for a stock application. I wasn't looking for a POWER ride. She does have a little more on the bottom than before, but not crazy. Pretty much just a stock improvement, with peace of mind. I'm not planning on buying another bike anytime soon, so I'll keep my ride in good shape.

Not sure what you mean by this........

The actual cam grind determines the performance whether they are race cams or bolt-on cams.... not the cam drive mechanism....

Numerous cams can be bought/installed that are available as both gear drive and chain drive... many are simple bolt-on cams that require only a tune (no compression bump or head work)....
