I did a search but did not find any solutions / theories on this. I recently had the 25k maintenance done at the dealer on my EG ultra, now I am having some "nit" issues -
1. Bike does not always start, so if I kill the motor sometimes it will not start; I have had to roll the bike a few inches (forward or back does not seem to matter) after turning the ignition switch off then back on, this appears to be intermittent
2. I am now getting a "sync failed" message when turning the ignition; I do not know what this message is really telling me (what does it mean) - could this be some update the dealer did to my system? its not documented, and I will call them in the morning but thought I had a better chance of getting solid answers here.
The answer that jumps at me is the BT sync of the phone's address book. Not enough info to know for sure. If this is it, I wouldn't think it is associated with the no start issue.
Is it a no start or no crank issue? No crank, I would suspect clutch lever switch. No start might be a wiring issue?
If the problems just showed up right after the service...i"d run it back and have them look at it.....might be something simple that didn't get connected correctly
I will stay on top of this thread cause I'm having a similar problem in that after I start my '16 RGU and turn on the radio I get the "Sync Failed" message on the screen for a second or two then it goes away. My bike starts & runs fine, radio & GPS work, still play my music on my ipad through the HD Jukebox port. My Bluetooth is still hooked up and operational cause my cell phone will ring through the Boombox--even though I don't have the microphone and can't use the Boombox for a phone conversation it just alerts me that I have/had a call. I very seldom send/receive any texts. So, I have no idea why I get the "Sync Failed" message, but everything seems to work OK.

Early experience years ago I had seen synch errors related to text messages. Later versions of Infotainment software don't seem to be an issue for me. You may have too many texts on your phone to allow synching? There is also a limit to how many contacts you have & if you have too many contacts, you might get synch errors from that? You can do a manual phonebook synch & see if that's causing the synch error. Not sure about texts?
Thanks for the input. I talked to the dealer, they *think* they may have updated the boom radio SW, and want me to bring it by to confirm (SYNC issue). I did some more verification and now I believe that the starting issue may be the clutch switch sensor - rolling the bike means I put it in neutral, so now I think either the clutch switch sensor just happened to go out while in for maintenance, or it just needs to be adjusted for proper throw.
Im going to check the text thing, I am pretty sure its not contacts but maybe I can resolve that by forcing a re-pair and sync to my phone.
I will update status later this week, I left the bike at home today (because 12F challenges my sensibilities for a 45 minute commute) but I will verify the radio SW update as well.
Sometimes upgrading software version on phone will cause issues. Try deleting phone from Boom radio and reinstalling it. This has worked for me with Iphone in the past.
robbie 52,
Good tip. I tried removal / reconnect, force synced my phone last night and I have cycled power maybe 4 times since, including this morning, the "sync failed" message has not re-appeared. While checking that out I confirmed the dealer updated my boombox FW so something with that update caused issues. I also noted that the update fixed some other functionality - previously I could not start my iphone tunes (media) unless I first kicked itunes on my phone first, but now I can access my music directly through boombox. probably how it was supposed to work.
the starter interlock with the clutch switch no longer works. It could be the switch - sounds like a common problem.
Question - does the cruise control system work off of that switch? Cruise disengages when I pull the clutch, so its either tapped somewhere else or the switch is not the issue
