What's the best way to trim the bottom of these ? They extend about 1 inch past the bottoms of my stretched bags. Any ideas.
Also, there is a slight gap between them and the saddlebags. The company said I might have to "add" to the covers. Has anyone done this ? Worked with fiberglass? Just seeing if I'm over my head at this point. It's been a long road trying to find side covers that work.

Just for my own curiosity, is there a reason you didn't go with an already completed side cover? Such as Bad Dad, Paul Yaffe, Avanblack, Hog Workz, or even HD?

Oh I've tried . My dual exhaust creates an issue. There isn't a side cover out there that's 08 and down for the 14+ bags and also dual exhaust .
Yea I've done a few sets. It looks like your headed in the right direction. Those side covers obviously aren't designed for those bags, and although you can cut and shape them they will still look a bit out of place, unless you reshape them to match. Voodoo (and others) make side covers that will match the bags, although you will still need to shave about 1.5"s off the bottom but will look better when done. As far as the gap between the bag and cover you can mold the two together, which is done on many custom bikes.
OP,
this is obvious after the fact but you should have gone with Advanblack. They're an exact fit and come already painted in whatever your bike is (using Harley's color). It took about 5 minutes to install and it's a perfect fit. I have S&S MK45 mufflers and the Advanblack extended saddle bags. Advanblack is a perfect fit. No need to paint. Just pop off your old and install the new. Check out my pic.

'14 up Voodoo bags and side covers on '08 RG
Hard to tell by the pics but is the left side cover indented for that dual header? Big issue I've had . Nobody makes that conversion with dual head pipes
