Default Winter service

I just finished getting my 2011 RK Classic back together after new paint. I took a little celebration ride on Sunday and then back to the garage for fluids. 18000 miles so planning tranny, oil and primary fluid changes. I think I’ll take to the dealer for brake fluid change when it’s warmer.

I have 2 questions. Anything else I should be checking/changing? I’ve been all over it for stuff like brake pads, belts and hoses. New fuel filter before the tank went back on. Second question, what fluids to use? I was planning on Syn3 for oil and HD gear oil for tranny and primary. Would I be better off going Syn3 for all 3? Yes I know it is a which oil question and there will be as many opinions as there are people. If you want to skip that one, the first question is more important.

That’s part of the reason for the primary. Most of the 20 was done when I bought it but I wanted to see if anyone had other ideas on things to watch out for.

My last bike was a 78 I bought in 85. My how things have changed.

Generally i run syn3 in the engine. Sometimes amsoil if I feel spicy. K&N filter just because it's of respectable quality and super convenient.

HD heavy gear in the primary last change. Seems good.

Redline big twin trans fluid.

I do the brake fluid myself. Always have. I'll go out and hot the brakes hard several times to cycle the abs, good enough for me.

When was the last time you checked your connections , pos and neg cables ( both ends ) , clean or replace fuses etc . I always look for corrosion at the major electrical points , good habit to have . .

I run H-D primary in the chain case and Belray in the tranny
ONLY because should a leak develop I instantly know which seal has failed

i have my own choices...but will say one thing.... do not use Syn 3 in primary. I changed out a clutch years ago and during conversation with manufacturer, they advised to use an oil for primary. Took prodding to get out of him, but they said they experienced clutch slippage on some units using Syn 3. Too slippery. Primary oil has additives to allow for proper clutch function.
What ever oil(s) you use, I recommend a good, quality, brand name oil suitable for what you want. (is this politically correct?!)
