CB on 2019 TK
A quarter mile on these radios with out a "tune-up" is pretty dismal...and 1.5 optimized still has me shaking my head. I understand the ground plane issue with motorcycles and perhaps low Tx power, but dang...I seem to recall, way back in the heyday of CB, we use to get some serious Tx and receive distance out of the old Cobras and even Radio Shack units.
Even optimized, a bike CB hardly seems worth the effort.

An upgrade that works is to use a 4 foot Firestik Firefly top load 5/8 wave antenna. Two bikes with this setup could expect to increase bike to bike distance to 2-1/2 or more miles. I didn't offer this because the antenna can fatigue the mount & cause breakage. I have used that setup on Street Glides with a mount I modded from the H-D AM/FM Left Side Mount P/N 76000183 that uses the hole in the right side filler panel (that has the cutout that matches the left site AM/FM antenna cutout. I don't have a picture with the Firefly antenna, but here's a couple pics showing the mount & H-D Shorty antennas installed. This was updated after the basic install was complete because the shorty antenna performance mounted low with his removable passenger backrest was poor (worked "OK" w/o backrest).
