Default progressive mono tubes or springs?

I'm thinking about upgrading the front end of my 2010 FLHTC. I don't carve corners any longer, I'm just looking for a plusher ride. I've read a lot of reviews on this site for the standard progressive mono tubes and found that they were mixed. Some thought they weren't much better than stock except for nose dive, others said they were too stiff and a few really liked them.
I'm not looking to go with Legend Axeo's not only because of the expense involved but I was told although they are upgrade over Progressives they are better suited for an aggressive rider which I am not.
I'm wondering if just changing out the stock springs with Progressive springs would make my ride plusher and how would that option compare to the mono tube version. The roads in NJ are horrible.
Finally if there are other options that would make my ride plusher please chime in.
My rear shocks have been upgraded to Fox with preload and dampening adjustments.

I have the progressives, i don't think they are plush, but better than stock forks, no nose dive, seem to feel more planted on curves, and dips, but i like em much better than the stock forks, rides on rails, sorta speak

I had the progressive monotubes and I thought they were much better than stock. Positives are better handling, reduced dive when braking, cost and a lifetime warranty. I sent mine in after 75,000 miles and they replaced them with a brand new set in the box. Can't ask for better customer service than that. I sold that set to someone on this forum for half the price of new and I'm sure he will feel the same positives I experienced.

I think they are stiff, not what you would call plush. But they soak up and smooth out all the little bumps. Plus valving in a good suspension probably has more to do with the ride than the springs do. The other benefit to Monotubes is you get everything inside your fork in one self contained package that doesn't rely on the weight or volume of the oil poured into the fork for ride quality. You just add a few ounces for lubrication. This often means you never have to replace the oil or fork seals again.

You have Fox on the back.
Why not try the Fox fork
cartridges on the front.
I have seen them for less
than $500

I was very happy with the progressive monos I had in my 05 Ultra.
I did use one less spacer then they recommended though.
Plush? No. Better than stock? Absolutely.
It did soften the ride and at the same time all but eliminated brake dive.

I'm not certain plush is the word I'd use.

I guess my real question now is are the mono tubes worth $300 more than the spring kit? Will I notice that much difference between the two?
does anyone have experience with the spring kit on a bagger?

Ohlins also makes a front end suspension that I hear is pretty good. You might want to check it out. In fact, they finally released a version for 2017 and newer touring bikes.

I've got the springs on mine, -1" version
Buddy of mine hasa the mono tube version.
I'm a bad one to really use as comparison as I flew helicopters so "What vibration?" is normal to me. I can barely tell the difference between the two. Neither nose diver, both track great and neither feels like it's going to vibrate off a cloverleaf at 40 MPH.
Find one of them on sale, buy it and call it a day.
