I have a 2002 RKC with a S&S 124. She has 39” Samson Cholos with baffles and the stock intake and injectors. Recently bought an HPI 58mm throttle body and 6.2mm injectors. I’ve watched a few utube videos on replacing the throttle body and since I’m at home bored outta my mind I’m thinking about doing it myself. She already has a Thundermax tuner and I’ll need to figure out how to retune it afterwards... In the next few weeks I plan on buying the D&D Boarzilla exhaust to finish it off.
To anyone that has done this and has some knowledge... How difficult is the swap? I am somewhat good with a wrench but I’m no mechanic. Also is the new setup too much for the restrictive exhaust? Should I wait to do it when I swap out the exhaust? Also any pitfalls to be aware of?
Id wait and do them both at the same time...only have to mess with tune once. The toughest part of the throttle body removal/ install is the two inside bolts are a bitch to get at. There is specialty tool for it butci just took the grinder to an allen wrench and shortened it up a bit. Once you get them loosened you can get the ball end of the allen wrench on it. Its easier with the lower rocker off but theres no reason for you to go that far. I cant help you on the setup beingvto restrictive or not but im sure someone will be able to help you out. Nice bike too
