I may be wrong, but I believe 2015-2016 MY before they went to the M8 motor in 2017.

I'm pretty sure the '14 MY touring bikes had the HO 103 motor. One of the main features of the Project Rushmore me thinks. And the Softails and Dyna got them in '16.

The HO 103 motors started with the Project Rushmore bikes in 2014. The HO motors came with a higher lift cam and a better flowing air box. Supposedly, the twin-cooled (wet-head) has more torque than the air-cooled 103s.

So the Twin cooled are the hi output Motors, and the air cooled or not, or did they make some high output motors in the air cooled ones ?

103 HO were from 2014-2016, could be twin cooled or not. the cams they used were close to the SE-255 cams and Comp. ratio was upped to 10.0-1. Mostly used in touring bikes.

There's not all that much of a difference between the HO engines and the standard variation. Just a few extra hp and a little more torque. More of a marketing gimmick just to hawk more bikes if you ask me.

All 2014-2016 FL engines (air cooled & twin cooled) got the H.O cam, this is the only difference. Dyna/Softail models got the HO cam in 2015-2017

I had both. The cam in the rushmore 103s was somewhere between the SE 254 and 255. In stock and especially in aftermarket stage 1 configurations I found the HO 103 to be much stronger engine. Lots of good dyno information on fm university that shows the difference, but the difference is most noticeable when riding.
