Default Back rest keeps leaning forward

Howdy all,

For a good while now the OEM back rest on my 2010 U.C. keeps leaning forward from time to time. If I lean forward to adjust my seating position or reach for the radio it goes forward and is then locked in that position. If I get off the bike after a while it is leaned all the way forward. Has anyone experienced and dealt with this problem before? It's getting annoying enough to where I would like to fix the problem somehow.

I'm assuming you have the adjustable rider backrest? If so, have you taken off your seat to see if something is broken or missing on the mounting base?

I'm guessing it is the gas charged strut on the adjustment base. I had one that went bad so I did a google search of the part number on the cartridge, sorry I don't have the information any more, it was a while ago. Found it online and replaced it. Not real hard to replace and it worked like new when I was finished.

If you need a part, here is the instruction sheet with part numbers.

Make sure the cable isn't getting pinched while riding, I had that happen and repositioned the cable a few times till it worked.
