My 05 shakes pretty good at idle, I dare ya to read the GPS! But as soon as I start to roll it smooths out. I did replace an old front motor mount but the old wasn't damaged just 12 or 13 years old so I figured what the he'll. Don't think it really did much though.
Now, I have a buddy that had an 07 Street Glide. Idled smooth but between 1,800 and 2,200 or so rpm the thing would shake so bad that you would have a hard time keeping your feet on the floorboards. I've never seen anything like it. He couldn't get rid of that thing fast enough!
From whom are you buying? Is there no similar vintage machine against which you can compare? "Shakes like crazy" is not a very PRECISE description. It drew responses like "mine almost shakes the front wheel off the ground at idle"...again not very precise. For something this subjective, a video clip would be a great help. I have an 08 Road King with a stock 96 and it shakes, but not "like crazy". No one here has an accurate idea if yours exceeds the "normal shake" or not. How many other Harleys have you had, or is this your first experience? At idle, Harleys shake more than most Japanese machines and you might just be a bit surprised.
The responses I got were suitable for me to understand that MOST if not all of what it did is normal. They also told me of what to look for to insure it is. Something like that cannot BE precisely defined, at least not by me.
Nope not my first Harley, bought that one new in 67, had two more since, but not counting the 1200 sportster I currently ride, never had a big twin. This is from a dealer. They did have an '08 Street Glide, but I did not ride it. I have seen them shake a lot when riding with folks, but never paid much attention to it. I have ridden others, a 2012 Ultra that did not shake nearly as bad. Also a '19 SGS, but thats a nuther story.
Have owned 4 jap bikes too, couple dirt, couple street, and ridden more than I can count. None of them shook like crazy.
same here. I went over the install over and over. Its better but not a miracle cure as many claimed.
I had the same experience. My glide pro enhanced my overall comfort at cruising speeds, but still shakes like mad when Im letting out the clutch in 1st or at very slow speeds. Its bad enough that I cant read the instruments. Im tired of tearing the fairing off every few weeks to inspect stuff so IM just learning to accept it.
