Default Best Pipes For Long Runs

This post should bring in a few replys considering a lot of us touring riders are looking for the same type of pipes ( a little rumble above stock) that won't make your ears ring after a long run. I have already had a set of the Harley Touring Mufflers, which are to quiet and from what I hearaboutthe same as the new 07 SE Street Performace Mufflers; currentlyrunning a set of 06 S E Touring Performance mufflers/ Supertrapp SE's and don't like the sound or volume, so now considering V & H Slash Cut Basic slip ons. Any and all comments, advice or suggestions to this post would be greatly appreciated.

I love my Wild Pig slip-ons. Deep throaty sound under acceleration. Noticeable but not so loud that it is over powering. But best of all a low deep tone when on the highway. We love them on long rides no ringing ears at the end of the day and I can listen to the radio at 65 mph orspeak and hear mywife without either of us yelling. And at $169 a plus.

Well as many will tell you, it is a personal preferance on sound. I tried the VH slip ons and they didn't last 20 miles and off they went to another member in Florida. I had the 07 slip ons and they were okay but not loud enough so again off they went. Tried the well wanted 99 version SE slip ons and they too were too loud (with fullsac duals). Karl (kdietz) recently went to a fatcat so I am running his BE superflows? (ebay member) and really like the sound. I may have lost a little performance but these are just right on the ear and for the riders following me.

For long runs I like to use ear plugs cause you also get alot of noise from the bike next to you even if you're pipes are quiet. They make it sound like you're running stock pipes.

Yep, me too. I have a Street Glide, so when I'm on the freeway I get a lot of wind noise. I never take a long ride at high speed without earplugs. The wind noise WILL cuase permanent hearing damage. My ears ring 24-7 because I was too stupid to wear plugs when riding my Fat Boy on the freeway without the windshield.

I agree on the ear plugs, makes a huge difference in the way I feel at the end of a long ride. V&H Ovals have a nice mellow crusing sound level.

I really like the Rush 1.75 slipons. They have a nice deep rumble.
