I didn't want an all blacked out bike, but I wanted to start with the 114, so I bought a 2020 Police RK which is chrome and black and the 114. I changed the seat and now I have what I wanted as a base platform.
I like the chrome better, if the 114 came on the standard Road King there would be no question. I've never wished a bike had less power. But I have a 2019 Ultra Classic with the 107 that is completely stock and I'm happy with the power it has.
I also don't understand why the RK Special is $3,000 more expensive, but isn't chromed, that black out stuff can't be more expensive, doesn't even have a windshield. I think you get more with the standard bike than the special, except for the bigger motor. For the $3,000 I'd rather get the standard and spend the $3k upgrading the motor. That would cover the parts for a 119 big bore Stage III kit.
If you Google "107" motor vs. 114" some reports prefer the 107 as being smoother & more refined & responsive.
I would go for 114" myself, then add a light bar (FL front end looks wrong without it)
Course I don't like the bars, seat, or wheel size on either (FL front end also looks wrong with anything but a 16" wheel)
So I'd buy a Heritage 114 or a Slim.
