Intercontinental Restore Help
Yep, kinda getting that SOL feeling, but I figured it was worth putting the feelers out. If I can figure out how to send a PM, I'll give Hammz a shout.
My guess on this is: without the original owners' account, you will not be able to do an IC RESTORE.
Have you tried to purchase the NA maps using the IC Replacement menu? Yes, it would cost $149.95 to do this, as opposed to a free restore, but if your fingerprint isn't allowing a restore based on NaviExtras records (not totally sure what history is retained, but pretty sure it is based on the owner's account info, not the bike's info), then it should allow a IC replacement using your account info & current fingerprint.
It's be a few years since I did the IC replacement, but it was a PITA. It required 2 attempts & 2 credit card charges, with H-D corporate help getting the first attempt credited back (it was done using the dealership credit card since I was assisting them with a customer's bike while the customer was in Hawaii). This was because the first attempt was for standard IC but bike was a CVO. Second attempt got it done.
The process takes a couple steps back & forth between the bike & the PC so using a laptop at the bike is recommended. Part of the install required entering a purchase code key part way into the process. I believe that code is stored as part of the fingerprint? The first attempt I got to the part where the purchase code key was required & that's when I realized it was the wrong version & failed.
Don't know if this reply helps, but good luck. Replacing the radio is definitely easier! I upgraded to the 6.5GTS this winter to get updated maps in my '14 FLHTK.

HAMMZ thanks for the reply.
I have attempted the IC replacement and just keep getting the Error: navsync_errornotvalid regardless of what I attempt I can't get past this.
If you have any idea how to get past this, that would be great. I have allowed the system to boot fully, even giving the system a few extra minutes just in case something was running in the background after the nav comes up.
I'm currently looking at after market radios to replace the current head unit as I am pretty fed up and disappointed with Harley-Davidson, Harmon Kardon, NaviExtras and the rest. Shame on Harley for this one. I've seen so many complaints about these systems, I can't believe Harley is still using NNG a non-US company based in Hungary. Shame on HD for this one.
Update: I even went so far as attempting to purchase the NA Premium maps through the NaviExtras website, which then sent me back to the "toolbox" to finalize the purchase where the NA Premium maps for purchase is not even an option. I can't believe they make this so difficult. I can literally purchase maps for everywhere in the world except for where I need them.

I'm in the exact same situation (to include losing days off of my life troubleshooting). Did you have any success? I think we've tried the same things...including looking at replacing the radio.
