you know i put it in allthree holes along with the harley filter just so i dont have to argue if a problem develops within the warrenty time frame. next year when it runs out i will change to mobil 1 and a KN filter in all three.

I found and will start usingMobil 1 15-50 full synth. for my engine. I`m going to use Mobil 1 synth 75-90 in my trans and I`ll use the H-D Formula + in my primary. I just hit 1070 miles in 6 days of ownership of my new 07 S/G.....

Most likely. Who knows... This is the first oil change I've ever done on the bike, so I was just going with the recommendation from the dealer. Maybe Wags1 can confirm or dispel this rumor the next time he talks with his tech friend.
I'll check the next time I am there but I highly doubt their is any truth to this. I have checked a couple of other sources to see if their have been any new service bullitens and their has not been. Not using Syn3 in all 3 holes would be a MAJOR change for the Moco and we would have heard about it from more than just this one service manager. It just does not pass the "sniff" test....

Well, since no one else has stated the obvious, I will. Harley does not make oil. Like all vehicle manufacturers do, H-D puts out a contract bid for any oil bottler/company that can give them an oil that meets(usually that's all you get is "Meet" the specs) the supplied specs for the lowest cost to H-D. Then they slap their label on the bottle and charge us a premium for that low cost oil. You can do much better with a Mobil 1, AMSOIL, or other self labeled oil company's oil. You'll also save some money in the process. I used AMSOIL MCV in all 3 for my recent 4100 mile trip out west. Since I've been home, I switched the trans to AMSOIL SVG 75-90 and the MCV in the engine&primary. Works great, quieted the trans a bit too and lowered the operating temps of the engine&trans a few degrees
