I live in Chicago. I just made a deal to trade my 16' FXDLS for a 20 Street Glide special in Sturgis this August. I may run out there sooner and grab it, but that is up in the air. Deal was waaaay better than anything I could do local. Made he deal pre-rally to ensure I could get exactly what I want.
I am not looking to do much right away, because I'm kinda tapped after making this move. So, I'd like to add slip ons, quick detach docking hardware and a QD backrest/cargo rack. I also intend to install daymaker, CD Led inserts F&R immediately.
What does everyone recommend for these additions? Slip ons I usually like the miter cut look that follows the lines of the bags, but I am game for anything that sounds and looks good.
Any other advice you can give a guy who just bought his first bagger that is 1k away? Any must have mods?
Rush makes the miter cut slips if you like a deep throaty sound. Theyre called Gangster with the slash up cut for the M8 bikes. They are the same as the Big Louies. I have these on my King.

I was thinking the same and...holding a bike for 2-months now-a-day's isn't really something I'd believe dealers would to too...since their objective is to get 2020's off floor ASAP.
OP, if this is true, what dealership did you work with? Also, again if true, just break it in while riding home - worry about upgrades later (IMO).
Dealer is Black hills H-D. They over night paperwork, I sign and return. Ive taken a pic of my ODO and agreed not to ride my FXDLS from this point on. i will own their bike and they will own the FXDLS. im now considering shipping both, or running out there sooner right after the 4th. Or just wait until the rally and pick it up. Im trailering out and back either way.
They are good either way I decide to go. Fantastic dealer to work with!
Buy the bike, ride it as is to break it in, and as you are around Sturgis and other places in your travels you will see other bikes and say " oh me like"
You have a long winter ahead of you, lots of time to mod in the down season....
Concentrate on the things you need to make the ride comfortable such as the aforementioned taller shield and highway pegs.
