Stock Pipes vs Slip-Ons
If all you want to do is put another set of mufflers on it, go for it. Then, ride it like you stole it. Good luck!
Nevertheless, those look like Rush Big Louie mufflers judging from the end cap. If they aren't loud enough for you, Rush has different baffles for them.

I don't use dealerships much, but as little time as I have spent in one over the last 15 or so years, I am always amazed at the utter BS I hear coming from the mouths of dealership employees.
I have had the absolute pleasure to use a couple dealerships during my rides across country, who were extremely educated, knowledgeable, and honest about all aspects of HD motorcycles, sales, and service... unfortunately they seem to be few and far between... and I don't have them near where I live...
If you understood, and correctly relayed, what your salesman told you... he is absolutely clueless....
You have done well to try and verify his misinformation, by posting here on this forum, but you should get a qualified friend, or pay an independent Harley shop with a good reputation, to inspect the bike and see what has been done to it... a knowledgeable person or shop, with the right tools, can check things without necessarily dismantling the bike, to see what most likely has been done, or has not been done...
Second learning point: When modding a bike, some changes will absolutely need a change in tune, while others aren't as critical...
Doing mods that change the airflow through your engine, can cause engine performance, drivability, and longevity problems if the tune isn't adjusted accordingly. If you don't know what you're starting with, you won't know what needs to be done ASAP, or what can be left to another day...
The journey of learning about any new bike, to me, is part of the fun... be smart, research your choices, and until you build a good base of knowledge, try to identify and enlist the help of a knowledgable source to assist you...
Enjoy the new bike....
