When I had the non-adjustable, I had to bend the arms backward (had to heat them, they are HARD). Now that I have the adjustable, I tend to ride with it all the way forward. Go figure. What I learned was my butt could take a much longer ride when I was riding with better posture.
i just put on the same back rest. i am 6 ft tall and no matter what i am pushed to far forward and i think its because the seat on a Rushmore model and newer gives the rider less area and gives the passenger more area but i dont think the part number for the back rest has changed. I will say this and that is if i run the back rest as low as possible in the bracket, it gives me a little more room. i reallly like it but im thinking about heating up and bending the bracket like the other gentleman did. the support on my back is fantastic just a tad to far forward.
You may have to do what I did after buying an Ebay backrest. Put it on the shelf and buy one from HD. Good luck!
i dont believe its the backrest since i have an HD backrest and it does the same thing. i believe its the bracket attached to the fender and the backrest bracket itself.
My buddy has the same back rest on his 2011 RG and I tried it on my 2014 UC. His fits fine and I had the same issues as the op.
I sold it and going adjustable back rest next. I read less issues with it.
yes. this is correct. they should of changed it after 2013 because the seats from 2013 to 2014 and up have changed to give the passenger more room hence the backrest will be pushed forward slightly because the slot in the seat is pushed forward which will tilt the backrest forward.
