I have been experiencing a problem with my bike recently . It starts easy and seems to run fine when it is cold. However once it starts to get warmer it starts missing, usually starts with a sputter , but sometimes cuts right out and I will have to restart it .
I had the tank off and checked over the wiring harness and can not locate any breaks or bad connections . I have pulled the plug off that feeds the coil, cleaned it with contact cleaner and reassembled it with dielectric grease and it still acts the same . I am starting to think the coil is going and only acts up when it gets warm . Is there a way to test the coil , or do I have to replace it and see if that helps . Thank in advance.

I found enough time to check codes on my Tmax . Nothing came up , everything showed as OK. I am at a loss to figure how it could possibly run this bad , and not generate any codes??

Bummer. Those who have FI speak of cleaning the IAC and the MAP sensors. You can YouTube it or search it out on google... Its worth a try. This is one definition of a failing MAP on an HD>>>Hesitation. When starting from a stop or rolling on the throttle, you may experience a hesitation or stall if the ECM receives the wrong signal from the MAP. Hard starting. ... On a fuel injected Harley if you suddenly need to add throttle to start the engine, this is a common sign of a failing MAP sensor. Sound like your bike?
Im not sure how to test the coil or crank position sensor, but someone may chime in on those two.
Check the main ground connections if you havent already, battery terminals etc.
Fuel delivery maybe?
Thanks for the help guys . Everything kept saying CPS to me , so I took a chance and slipped over to the dealer and picked one up.
Big surprise there , a harley part was $10 cheaper than an aftermarket one . The real selling point was they had one on hand , and it would have been a week getting it from an online store , covid is playing hell with deliveries is what they told me .
I just got back from a little spin , put on about 90 miles or so , without so much as a hiccup. Ill get out for a longer test tomorrow.
