So originally I posted about my dipstick popping out and blow back out of my tail pipes on my 2006 SG. I received a lot of information far as doing compression tests and leak down test and upon checking my front cylinder had a bad ( low) test and I decided to break the bike down. Come to find out my pistons had cracked rings which was creating the problem 🤔 Everything else looks to be in good condition cylinders, heads etc. So I am having the cylinders bored and getting new pistons (cometic) Also once everything was took apart I noticed the cylinders were already bored but still had stock HD pistons. This is my 1st Harley and I am no expert however I am thinking that this what caused the problem amongst the beating that I've been putting on it.
Any thoughts or suggestions??? Stock 06 HD piston twin cam 88

Also, you said "already bored" what do you mean? You measured the bore, and it is bored over the stock size?
There are a few muddled messages there! H-D make over-size pistons, so it is quite possible your cylinders have been rebored and over-sized ones installed. As for cracked rings, they tend to come apart in several pieces. Some more details would be helpful!
Im not the sharpest tool in shed but isnt that piston domed? Did that bike come stock with domed pistons? I might be wrong...definitly not a professional lol
How do you know it's already been bored? Bring the jugs to your local machine shop, have them bored & honed, have them order the right size pistons and rings. Set the gap, stagger, reassemble. Do a few heat cycles with re-torques in between and done.

Yes I took the cylinders to cometic an had them measured and they were bored already an im not sure exactly to what size.
