I've put1500 miles on my 07 Ultra now...sure is a sweet ride solo, a bit under sprung or under-dampened when carrying my 175lb ex-wife (Karma?)
I put on a K&N air filter kit, and the Thunder Max auto tune.
So far I really like everything about this bike except the 1800rpm clatter coming from the primary compensator area (IDS ordered for $216 delivered). New OEM rear tire ordered for $135 delivered.
Getting about 38mpg in mixed city/hiway driving. Light comes on pretty regular at 150 miles, takes 4 gallons.
The six speed is just about right for my riding style and the power output of the bike. I have no idea what my HP and torque numbers are, but I don't think they are insufficient for me (54 years old and grey). I jsut got off a Vulcan 2000 with about 100 HP and 133 ft lbs of torque, and I'm not willing to spend what is necessary to get all that power back. I wanted comfort and luxury and I believe the Ultra does that.
Can someone tell me what is a realistic air pressure in the rear shocks, or is there anything I can do to improve the ride quality at maximum load?
When riding solo, I use 10# pressure in the rear shocks. I weigh 220. When I add my wife, I bump it up to 20# pressure, and have never bottemed out. Don't forget to pump up the rear tire to 40 lbs. when riding two-up.
