Default Regulating The Voltage

Voltage gauge is jumping 13.8 to 14.3volts, bouncing high to low and far from steady voltage read cruising or increasing RPM's. Often times my radio on, has a fuzzy sound, I feel I'm leading towards this voltage movement.. I put a meter on the trickle lead and rev'd, even tho the gauge on inner fairing was traveling high to low, the meter read steady 13.83volts.

I'm leaning on voltage reg. going faulty or bad connection.. not quite sure the best way to test regulator .. If one could advise on the how too, I'm capable of doing the test
Thanks Tim

Here you go it is a sticky in the electrical subforum:

Usually your volt/ohm meter is not quick reacting like a voltage meter is. Check all connections to the meter and battery. How old is your battery? May be pulling more current from the voltage regulator if it is starting to go. Do the checks as above and then you should know.
