My point is that a new 2020 road king is MSRP at $19499 with a dealer cost of $16379 (source: https://seedealercost.com/power-spor...e/manufacturer). The RDS that OP mentioned is another $995. So if the dealer cost is north of $17000 on the new bike...and I am assuming that the OP did not agree to pay more than MSRP. Leaves very little room for profitability which is just inconsistent with my experience at HD dealers. Maybe this one is different and works on a volume basis....and if so, i will make the trip to FL!
I believe it was almost $4k between the two bikes. I didn’t get any discount on the new bike it was sticker.

Got couple hundred miles on her now and started the upgrades lol. I wanted to tone the chrome down a bit but not get rid of it. I’m still on the fence with the bag lights but they were thrown into the deal so not too stressed about it other than I hate the way you route the wire as it’s so exposed. I’m thinking of extending the wire so I can route it along the upper bag edge or move the disconnect to the back of the bag and run the wire on the frame. The front I wanted to try something a little different so removed the driving light assembly and mounted the slimline running light/blinkers from custom dynamics. I did them in black to break up the chrome. Not sure I like them yet so will see. Everything is reversible for the bike to return to stock the only surgery I had to do was cut and solder the aftermarket lights together in the rear to cut down on the plugs under the seat.
Put some Bassani pipes on my sons Vrod that I got off craigslist and while they aren’t color matched we got them for $100 so we talked about taking the heat shields and painting to match. Man they sound awesome but definitely ear plugs needed above 5k rpm.

Sacrilegious, since it's all about the excess of chrome to begin with on a RK, and you're border on needing to be burnt at the stake as a RK Heretic.

Hence talk to other Road king owners, and we have to spend an extra 20 mins during bike washes, just gleaming all the chrome before the bike road is worthy for a ride in the first place. What's next, blackened out HD fork mounted wind deflectors to solve the head buffeting problem with the windshield in play.
Real side note, the fork mounted wind defectors does more than just solves the buffeting problems with the amount of wind coming up from under the windsheld at speeds, and from about 30mph up, works as a steering dampener to smooth the front out as well. Before I installed mine, no way I was going to pull both hands off the bars at above 60. With them, pull both hands off the bars all the time at 75/80 now.

Simply put, if you want an all black "Moody" bike, that is what the street glide is all about (as you leather boy dress up for the fire island parade).
By de-chroming the RK, you're giving it an identity crisis, and it may just try to commits suicide itself in a fiery crash, to burn it's' Heretic at the stake itself.
Trust me, I can hear the bike's inner monolog from here, it's not happy by even the light de-chroming sodumizing it just received.

Repent says HD, Repent says ALL.
