Default Another Commander III. PSA

After reading a couple of the C3 threads in the last months, last week I ordered a front tire. I was hoping to be in the 75% + that had no issues. I've run 2 sets of C2s and like them.

Well hell.

I had it mounted up last night and when it was spun up on the balancer there was probably .100" run out on the major diameter of the tire. This was after 2 failed attempts to get it to seat.

I called the supplier I got it from to get a different tire coming to replace it and talked to the CS agent for a while. She didn't elaborate deeply but said they are seeing a LOT of returns on the C3s.

There seems to be a real problem with these tires.

I too had the issue, no more Commander tires for me. The Dunlop AE's I now run are great so far.

Your thread was one I had read through.

I still have a C2 on the rear with a lot on it. I have an Avon coming to try out.

Yep, heard the same thing on C3's having problems, but lucked out a few months back when I needed to replace my tires, and local supplier still had sets of C2's in stock.

With luck, by the time I wear out the new set of C2's, either C3 problems will be corrected, or will be up to the C4's without problems isntead. Hence since the C2 got such good reviews and where a huge seller, makes me wonder if corners are being cut on the C3's to produce them cheaper/make more profit, and why the C3 are a problem child now.

So really, all the fame from the C2 tires, is really begin destroyed by the C3 tires problems, and will guess by the end of the next year with no more C2's to buy, The commander series tires are just going to drop to the bottom of the list due to the current production problems. Plus not sure anyone has run then long enough to really compare the C3 to C2 tires in life of tire.

As the end user, no skin off my back, since there are other tires that are just as good as the C2's that I can swap over if needed instead. Hence the C2's where a great tire for that period in history, but with so many other manufacturers coming out with new tires every year, who knows what the best ticket will be in a few years. All we really know, is the C3's are having production problems, and not even close to the fame of why so many of use run the C2's still.

It was 80 today and the new tire is on tomorrow. Oh well.

Its ashame about the C3s really. I put my C2s to the test on our trip a month ago and they complained but did what I asked of them. I was hoping to not have problems. I

I ran Metz 880s for years on my other bike, it's 650lbs and didn't see the risk on the heavier bikes being worth it.

I got away from Dunflops years ago, but I keep hearing you guys say the AE are gtg.

Well, my experience with the AE is that they served me very well. I got heavy rain, and snow, coming back to Idaho from Cortez, Co, and at no time did the bike ever feel less than planted and solid. Got them at both ends, bike is an '08 FLHT. I've ran other brands, after hearing good things, but I keep coming back to these. The bike is now at a little over 130,000 miles.
