I have spoke with the Indy that put these tires on and asked them if they have ever had issues with these tires. They said they haven't but looked at my tire and they are contacting their supplier and I told them I was going to contact Michelin. I highly doubt they will do anything but ... My dad has this same tire on both his bikes and you can see the seam on his rear, but it doesn't have chunks comi g out like mine. Anyone have issues with these? You can see in this photo that it appears to be seperating and chunks coming out in the seam. Closer look at one place. It is this way almost all the way around the tire.
I'm on my 3rd set of Commanders and I've never had any issues, they've actually given me more bang for my buck than any other tire I've tried. It will be interesting to see what they have to say about yours.
I called them a little while ago and they said they would give me some $ on another tire as long as I send in the invoice to them. Don't know how much they will give me but we will find out. As I said my dad loves his.
I'm not expert, but it sure looks like it is some kind of manufacturing defect. Almost looks like the seam is coming apart with miles put on the tire. I wouldn't be happy unless Michelin replaced the tire.

How many miles? how long have you had them? if you haven't had them that long, shouldn't be more than 50% worn.....
I put a set on my Fat Boy end of last year. Have about 5,000 miles on them and no problems. I can see the little rib of rubber from the mold seam in the tread groves, but don't see any seam line on the wear area of the tire. Sure looks like you got a bad tire.
then they should't be more than 50% worn. by their own literature, you should be getting the tire free, with the exception of labor to mount and balance.
