Default Final drive suggestions

Hello. I am new to the Forum. I have a 2013 street glide. I am looking to change the gear ratio and am wondering if anyone has changed their front pully to a 30T or 29T? I have the S&S 551 cams in it, a Performance Plus true duals with a Big sucker air. I am looking to add a 2-1 exhaust and change gearing. Looking for any suggestions on performance.

I changed my 2010 to trike pulley (30tooth).
works great. Put gearing right where I want it.
Some bikes belt fits great, some bikes needed elongated axle holes and some bikes need new belt.

You might look into a larger rear pulley rather than smaller front. Yes, may be quicker and easier to change, but think of this.... smaller front pulley gives more "torque" or "increase" power level. Larger front pulley does the opposite...takes away the power side and gives more top speed. The opposite is true on rear pulleys....larger rear, lower speed more power, smaller rear higher speed less power. When we raced dirt bikes chain life was big concern. Running around a smaller front sprocket produced smaller radius and tighter chain had to go around a pulley/gear. We usually opted to change rear pulley/gear to get what we were after. I would think same holds true for belts...smaller turn radius, tighter belt has to travel, potential for wear increases. This is my thought and opinion....you can do what you like, but this is my belief.

Don't know your level of Harley knowledge. The speedometer is driven off the transmission output shaft (magnetic pick-up) so changing either final drive pulley will cause a speedometer error Changing the size of either sprocket in the primary will change the ratio of engine rpm to transmission output rpm and will possibly cause a loss of 6th gear light and cruise control function. This can be corrected with a sophisticated tuner but few working at the dealership will have any knowledge how to do it.
