Default Abs bleeding thoughts

Have the 2010 abs and so far no issues but I’ve flushed it with fresh fluid every year (without using digital tech). Changing some brake lines this winter and I’m thinking I might try flushing abs while cycling ignition.
I think it cycles whenever you turn on ignition but don’t know how to confirm this or if anyone else has tried it.
feed back?
(hate taking bike to dealer for any reason!!!)

I wouldn't activate the ABS that way.... I believe it's just an electrical check of the system, and doesn't actually activate the ABS valves..... I don't believe you will accomplish what you are after by doing that....

IMHO.... properly flush/bleed the master cylinder, the lines, and the calipers... Then go activate the ABS, and feel free to flush again.... OR... If you feel the need to get all the old fluid out, including the ounce or so in the ABS module, do it by properly activating the ABS module during the bleed process with one of the aftermarket devices that allow for that..

Good luck with the new brake lines...

Get the appropriate tool and bleed it properly. Here's some web links you might want to read through.

Been considering one of the tools because I have a circle of buddies with same abs, problem is I’ve heard they “marry” to one bike.

Third vote for the itm unit. Probably the most cost efficient/safest way to properly flush your abs system. No im not paid spokesperson just a happy customer. Im not a fan of bringing my bike to the dealer or locking up my brakes on a gravel just save a few bucks.

he has an option to buy for multiple or unlimited bikes. I was going to to go that route and then just charge my buddies a minimal fee...but I have cheap *** friends lol.

There was talk a while back of the V&H FP3 adding the ability to activate the HCU. Guess this was BS? That would be nice.

Whatever you do, don't take your bike to the dealer for a brake fluid flush. That's a sure guarantee that you'll be buying a new HCU because the HCU activation when flushing puts a lot of stress on the unit. There are several posts about this happening right after the '08-'11 MY brake fluid flush "recall".

Of course, there's no guarantee that the HCU won't seize up if you flush with an aftermarket device, either. Since you haven't had any problems doing it the way you've been doing it, I would just continue with what's been working. Of course, it's not my bike (or my life), so do what you feel is best for you. That's a decision only you can make.

For what it's worth, I've been flushing the ABS brakes on my '14 Limited for years without activating the HCU. Am I tempting fate? Probably, but the ABS still activates when needed. Then again, it's a different HCU, so there's that. Good luck with whatever you decided.
