My TourPak is detachable, so I get both worlds.

I added the detachable leather tour pack to my road king and then never detached it, so when I traded into the electraglide I never looked into the kit to make it removable. I would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Mine's on 100% of the time now. Too much a PITA to take on/off as I have running lights and a strobing brake light built into it now.(various connectors, hidden/hard to reach)
Plus, at work, I keep my helmet in it, rather than lugging it 1/4 mile across a big parking lot and through a large bldg.

For me, it just makes sense.

Do whatever you want to do. You don't need a bunch of folks on the internet to make your decisions for you.

p./s.- I really liked the beer reply you got above. I concur.

Agreed just was wandering what others did with it. By the way if I don't have room for my beer I don't leave till it will fit. Bottoms Up!!

I installed the detachable tour pack kit last week on my RGU and it feels like a different bike. The tour pack made that bike very top heavy. I’ll put it back on when I go on a road trip, but otherwise, it’s staying off.

On my limited I have no plan to take it off ever. Lunch box full, face helmet, sena freewire. Just stuff that's needed on daily basis. If I took it off I would have to drive my truck and winter is long enough as it is.

Had the detachable mount installed when I bought the bike. Removed it maybe 5 times in as many years. Prior to the virus, I commuted 45 miles to work. The tourpack let me wear heavy gear in the morning and lighter gear on the ride home.

Ended up replacing the detachable mount with the stock mount. Doesn't take much longer to remove. 4 bolts, wires, and done. But the stock mount is much more solid and no more messing with the bushings.

Ditto, I almost installed detachable 4 point mount, Bt like you said it's only four bolts, and I Changed my license Plate bracket to a lay down Bracket below the tail light.
I cut all the Tour-pac wires and installed Quick disconnect Deutsch Connectors.
When I want to put the tour pack back on it only takes about 30 minutes when needed, which is only on long Road trips.

When I bought my first bagger... before taking delivery, my list of "got to get" options included the quick disconnect kit for the Tour Pack...

After riding it for a month, I decided I really like the convenience of the tour pack, and don't really notice any handling issues (I have two other bikes w/o a tour pack)...

It's on for good....
