I used the Silverstars on my car for a few years. They would only last approximately 1 year. It pissed me off when I found they were only available in pairs. But when one went the other was only good for a week or more so it was best to change them in pairs. I got tired of changing them every year and went back to to cheap ones.
If you can afford it, replace it with an LED headlight. If not, you can get a 55 watt low beam and a 100 watt high beam. (55/100).
Better than stock but no where near as good as a modern LED.
Amazon has some hella 55/100 bulbs pretty cheap. I put one in my other bike and it was much brighter. I also installed a relay inline with the bulb and just used the switch to throw the relay. Didn't want to smoke the switch. It lasted for years.
For this bike I just installed LED. Better, once you get used to the different kind of light.
Some bulb manufacturers, such as PIAA, offer H-4's specifically for powersports applications that are more resistant to vibration. That's what kills the other brighter bulbs like Silverstars.
After using those in several bikes I find they last much longer. But I've since moved on to LED's.

You aware that you can't touch the glass on the H4 bulb? The oil from your skin will cause a hot spot and blow the bulb, after the install wipe the bulb glass down with some rubbing alcohol. Just my 4 cents, inflation..
I put in an led,fan cooled H4 bulb from Amazon .It cost me like $8 or $9. Works great and has lasted 3+ yrs so far. The original bulbs are like a weak candle.
