I had the same problem with my 12in pointed bars from FBI and the reach was a little too far for me. I had them pulled back as far as I could go and had less than a quarter of an inch from hitting my tank at full turn. I decided to get their new reduced reach bars and they are fantastic as the vertical bend point is much higher bringing the bars about 3in closer to me and they are still adjustable either way. One happy camper now.

They have them in Black 2

On top of that, when you pull bars back the majority of the movement will be at the highest point, with minimal movement occurring at the bottom.
Twin peaks make you reach, I have mine all the way back, I used a spacer at full turn to set them back just before hitting tank at the first bend going up, TP 's actually make you reach more than stock, different bars are the answer

Have you tried a different seat yet? One that sits you up and forward. Seems like a much easier place to start vs replacing bars. Just a thought.

Yeah, well...the new seat is being made right now by LePera. But it's a Monterey so it is not much of a forward seat.

I don't see any more room to bring them forward, since they are already at the absolute minimum to the tank when turned full.

Can this be done? Can this be done on a bike without removing everything?
It's safer for you to just go with a different set of bars. When you bend existing bars you will weaken them, which is the #1 thing you never want to do. For your bike, they make bars that are adjustable. We offer bars like those on our site from our shop as well as KST bars. If your happy with the height, you can go with the same hight and most likely never have to change out your lines.

I'm right next door to the OP. I was thinking a seat mod or replacement would move him closer to the bars. Changing bars is expensive to have done an a PIA to do. I did my bar swap.

I'm not aware of any indy shops in the area an all the HD shops will charge a premium. My neighbor has a Titan chopper an he always goes to Santa's on west 140Th.

The good news is your wiring is all set for length. I went with wild 1 WO579's. not much rise an the come back to the rider some. I have been riding with major shoulder pain an these bars were more comfortable than stock. Now that I finally had my shoulder repaired I may regret not getting 10" bars but at 5'8 these work well. Even at 5'8 I don't like having a seat that pushes me closer to the tank.

I'm in Lorain if you want to come by an sit on my bike an try the bar position out. I wish there were places you could check out bars for height an angle. I am sensitive to wrist angle for long range comfort.

Best thing I ever did mod wise on any bike I've ever had was my bars on my road glide. It is a completely different bike now and handles aggressively like my dirt bike. So connected and in tune with what's going on at all times with my bike because of the bars.

it's well worth the money to do what fits you the best

How do you like the reduced reach bars? I'm 5'8 and considering them. Thanks in advance!
