Easter Sunday went for a ride on my 19 Road King. About 2 miles from the house, there was a guy on the opposite side of the street walking a large pit bull. This was a large street not a narrow roadway.
I was going about 45 MPH at the time.
When I was about 20 yards from them , the dog started running twords me crossing the street.. No leash.
I dont remember much about my actions, I remember thinking hold my line, then try to manuver around . Well that didnt work, I hit the dog and went down. Me and the bike slid down the road. I remember hearing my helmet grinding the pavement. It was ground on the side and front, lucky it was a full face helmet. My leather jacket was chewed through on the shoulder area and the entire back. Me and the bike went about 60 feet.
The pit was dead instantly. I remember the guy yelling at me for hitting his dog asbI was stumbling up to get out of the road. The bike slid on one side, then somehow manged to flip, so it took out both sides. A couple guys in a 1% club here happened by just after, they stopped and really helped calm me down. They took over and dealt with the idiot who was still yelling at me.for killing his unleashed pit. By the way he never came down the street where I was to help me or check on me.
The guys even sent the tow truck away and called another member of their club to bring a trailer and help. They were there in 15 minutes, loaded my bike and brought me home and the bike home.
Besides being shook up and dazed , I had no injuries or road rash, not a mark on me.
Harley is picking up the bike today.

damn! hope you're doing okay today. sometimes injuries are hidden by the adrenaline rush. did you manage to get the dog owner's info? seems to me he should be liable for repairs to your bike, and medical to you. I just have one question, did any of the 1% stab the guy?
Damn glad you doing ok, bikes can be fixed or replaced, hats off to the guys that helped you, and why in the hell dogs like to chase a bike is beyond me, I have had happen a couple times myself, come out of nowhere and scare the **** out of you barking.
Man, glad you are ok! That's a bad situation, and not much you could have done to avoid it. lucky to have those guys there to help you out. Hopefully your bike gets sorted and you can get back on the road soonest!
