I've sworn by Supertrapps for years! My last four bikes actually. My current 17 Road Glide and the bike previous to that, an 05 Electra Glide both have/had Supertrapp Fat Shots. You can make them just as quiet if not quieter than stock or you can open them up and make them loud. Just by adding/subtracting discs and open, closed or no end caps at all. And you actually gain performance depending on how you run them. The only other slip on I might consider would be the MK45s. Only because my brother has them on his bike and I ride next to him almost every weekend and they do sound pretty dang nice too
Whatever slipons you choose, keep using the earplugs...
I have used earplugs for years now. I have already suffered from substantial hearing loss from riding, racing cars (open headers) and workplace environment loudness. Measurable loss in the freq.'s you need to see peoples lips move and hear/understand what they're saying....lol. I'd love to get away from wearing them while riding but realize thats probably not happening.
I was shocked tho how much exhaust noise contributed, and how little wind noise had to do with it. And the freaking cost of the mufflers makes it something I cannot afford to just 'give it a try', if ya know what I mean...lol. Sure wish there was a listing of each muffler and its db level of sound. Then a person would only need to hear each ones tones.
Don't know the year of your bike, or where you are in Michigan, I'm just east of Toledo, have a 21 limited, I put V&H 450 torquers on it, you might like them,if you want to ride down and have a listen,, there are videos of them, sound wise, I had a thunderheader,on last bike, these still have a little rumble, but not ear painful
After putting some miles on the quiet girl, thinking I might just keep it quiet but am seriously considering those Supertrapps Fat Shots that are adjustable. I have found it took a bit to get myself adjusted to the quieter exhaust.....lol. Weird, never considered that part.
